WTF America?

Congratulations America!
You're officially crazy. 11 months ago 62,040,610 of you choose that George W. Bush should continue his role as the President of the United States of America. That's 50.7 per cent.

Suddenly, 11 per cent of you have changed your mind. What's going on?

New Gallup polls suggest that 39 per cent of Americans approve of the job that President Bush has been doing. A whopping 58 per cent disagree with the belief that G.W. is doing a quality job. CBS posted this data two weeks ago, with little interest from American and world media. Today, Gallup posted some of the lowest approval ratings in four years and I'm just saddened by my fellow country-mates.
(For graphic minded individuals, the CBS link has nice bar graphs.)

Even Fox News, known for it's conservative twist, admits that only 40 per cent of American's think that Bush is doing a quality job.

If Californian's can fire their governor, LET'S FIRE THE PRESIDENT!

Our family is trying as hard as we can to get this clown outta office... Do you have any suggestions on how we can succeed? Maybe when you come home you can join our efforts.

Oh, Michael, you can't trust the main stream left wing reality! Everyone loves Bush! I mean, look at this list of accomplishments:

*We have been at war since the day my daughter was born (pretty impressive! a "War" baby, almost 4 years old! We should have named her "Warona Terrah Hardy")

*Melting ice caps is going to make it real easy to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to get that 6 month supply of oil up there! Thats 'energy independence' for ya!

*Bush brought "American" democracy to Iraq: where they are now investigating election fraud due to some very unusual vote results in sunni districts...That's right, Saddam, that's how we rig elections in AMERICA, get used to it!

*And best of all, Hurricane Katrina was a great test run for the Avian Flu Pandemic that is coming across the globe. Don't go to Rumania, Michael, and STAY AWAY FROM THE BIRDS. Especially dead ones, or sick ones. If you bring back any gifts from Europe for Xmas, make sure it isn't the Flu, K? Don't be the one that infects the entire midwest, K?

Happy early birthday to you too, Trotter, and remember, we really do like Bush, don't believe the world around you.

i think the numbers for the "brilliant, totally possible" idea of rebuilding new orleans is around the 200 billion dollar mark. that would have been do-able. but wait... all of that money went to the war that bush deemed absolutly necessary.

fuck bush.

Bush bashing is one of my FAVORITE passtimes! It's almost too easy, though. You know what really makes me shake my head? The majority of his supporters are the ones being directly hurt by his policies and they still love the man for one thing only - his "morality" myths they've all bought into. Makes me crazy, but there you have it - the collective memory of the average U.S. citizen buying into the rosy view of a past that never was. As an historian I wish I could require every person in the country to read Stephanie Coontz's _The Way We Never Were: American Families and the Nostalgia Trap_. Excellent read!
